Welcome to the Rhode Island Action Coalition (RIAC)
for the Future of Nursing

The Rhode Island Action Coalition (RIAC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the mission of advancing the profession of nursing to improve health outcomes for all Rhode Islanders by creating nurse leaders with the skills to catalyze policy, environmental, and systems changes to improve the social determinants of health.

Currently the RIAC seeks to expand the impact of two projects that will advance the IOM pillars of nursing in Rhode Island and align within RWJF’s Culture of Health framework. More specifically, RIAC aims to focus this project on reducing stigma and increasing clinical and community-approaches to “whole-person health” to transform Rhode Island’s health system.

We are proud to be a member of the national Nurses on Boards Coalition. If you are a nurse serving on a board, go to the website to let the coalition know about your service, and become a part of the national network of nurse leaders.

The Coalition's goal is to improve the health of communities and the nation through the service of nurses on boards and other bodies. All boards benefit from the unique perspective of nurses to achieve the goals of improved health and efficient and effective health care systems at the local, state and national levels.
